‘when it comes to silencing women, Western culture has had thousands of years of practice.’ mary Beard
Today is international women’s day.
Or feste delle donne, as they call and celebrate the 8th of march in Italy. As a sign of solidarity, women give each other mimosa flowers, for these yellow flowers are fragile but always rise again. To be grateful for all the strong, free and creative women around us but also to take a
stand.
Hades took Persephone, but this story isn’t merely a myth. On a daily basis, in this day
and age, streets in many places in the world are his territory, as well as societies themselves.
Let this day be for all the brave, pulled down but climbed back up women and those who raised daughters to be woman enough. La madonna e immacolata.
